Chapter 910

Nonetheless, Sean quickly changed the subject. "What happened between you and John? Why did

Patrick come to blows with him?"

The mention of John made Cordy's gaze turn dull immediately.

It was much more difficult to get John back as she thought.

She thought that if she was willing to stand alongside John and face everything with him, John would

willingly do so.

In the end, she overestimated herself...or perhaps she underestimated Nana.

"John was determined to reject me." Cordy did not hide that from Sean.

"So, Patrick fought him."

"Yes..."

"What's in your mind?"

Cordy looked Sean in the eye and said, “I'm not giving up just yet."

Sean frowned, clearly upset by her response.

Cordy understood that Sean didn’t want her to suffer because of John, and yet...

"I think there's something he can't tell us about," Cordy said, voicing her suspicions.

She wasn’t thinking much since she was hurting from John's rejection earlier, but now that she had

calmed down, she noticed too many inconsistencies.

John's reaction to her presence changed too quickly-to be precise, when he returned to his ward.

When John arrived outside his own ward, he didn't appear particularly distant towards her, but was

suddenly very much so when he stepped inside.

"What exactly can't he tell us? He loves you, but he has to take responsibility for Nana—that's all,"

Sean scoffed derisively. "That man is so indecisive, so different from the John I met. To be honest, the

first time he came to meet me to build an alliance, he worked quickly and decisively. He was very

different from the John we're seeing now..."

"That's exactly why I'm suspecting if he's hiding something from me," Cordy said, determined.

"Cordy, people change-and in John's case, he lost his memories. Don't hold out too much hope for

him," Sean reasoned. "Also, I'm convinced it's better for you to give up on John. Patrick is really a good

man."

Sean truly didn’t want Cordy to get involved with Lynds. The Cranstons may be the most powerful

family, but the Lynds' influence in the capital wasn't to be underestimated. Most importantly, Jesse

Crantson was still unconscious. The only reason Jesse could strut was because he was the eldest

amongst both families.

Still, even he didn't have the ability to keep Cordy unscathed.

"Patrick’s a good man. You can have him," Cordy blurted.

Sean stared at her, speechless.

Cordy simply smiled. "I just suddenly thought you two are a better match. I’m joking, of course-Patrick’s

preferences are a mystery, but yours aren't. Even if your marriage was political, you wouldn't be

bewitched by a man."

"I'm just recommending him, and you have my support even if you reject him," Sean said. "Just prepare

yourself mentally. Like I said, Nana's no pushover, and the Lynds even more so."

Even so, Cordy remained determined. "I used to hate getting into trouble and wanted to keep myself

isolated, just to live my life in peace. That's why I rejected John so many times-because his life is too

complicated, and I’d get involved with the Stuarts. But now, I'm willing to go through hell and high water

to get him back.”

"Seems like you've made up your mind, so I won't say anything else. Just remember that I'm always on

your side, no matter how things turn out."

Cordy sighed emotionally despite Sean's promise. "I used to hate the Cranstons. I don't know what

happened between the family and my mother, only that she suffered a lot because of my father after

she left the family. That's why I'm distant even if the family treats me well now. But I think I’ve changed

my mind now because of you."

Sean chuckled. "Well, I'm honored."

"No, the honor is all mine," Cordy corrected him. "I used to be skeptical towards familial relationships,

even holding no expectations for it. You allowed me to cherish my family again."

"It's great that you've sincerely accepted us," Sean said, giving her a tender pat on the head. "Just

don't hurt yourself over anything."

"Yeah." Cordy nodded.

"And like I said before, stay healthy. That's most important."

"You too," Cordy said, and glanced at his nose. "It's hilarious."

Sean rubbed his own nose when she said that, the emotions on his face inscrutable.
