Bernard took the seatbelt and helped her put it on.
He lifted his cold, indifferent eyes to take a glance at Eleanor.

duration of this car ride like we used to be?”
Eleanor’s past memories flashed through her mind-back when Bernard used to hold her in the living
room, feeding her water and food.
When he talked about going back to the past, perhaps he didn’t mean in a physical sense, but rather to

merely counter-asked, “If I don’t agree, will you refuse to take me to Garett?”

liked holding her this way.
He enjoyed looking up at her. This way, he could clearly see her eyes, and confirm whether they still
held his reflection.
Eleanor, reluctantly, wrapped her arms around his broad shoulders, her legs forced onto his lap.
Despite them doing nothing explicit, the intimate position reminded Eleanor of their passionate times
together in the past.
Those memories made her quickly avert her gaze, avoiding eye contact with him.
