Betrayal At The Altar By Dolores Delia Chapter 208

“If you don’t believe me, you can give it a try.” David’s tone was calm and emotionless.

However, there was a sense of danger in his words.

Mrs. Smith’s expression suddenly changed. Her body stiffened as she stood rooted to the ground.

Eddie looked at the Smith family in front of him. They were all angry but did not dare to say anything.

He could not help but sneer. “A bunch of cowards!”

Upon hearing that, the family’s facial expressions changed unpredictably.

Standing in the distance, Rachel gently held David’s hand and shook her head.

David knew that she was not being merciful to the Smith family. She was just worried that it would

cause trouble for him.

He reached out and rubbed his fingers gently against her cheek. “Remember, your matters are never

troublesome to me.”

“Got it,” Rachel said.

After the two of them left, Eddie left with the men in black.

The oppressive atmosphere immediately dissipated. The aggrieved Mrs. Smith immediately took out

her phone and contacted Louis. “Louis, this is bad. Your sister got beaten up…”

Rachel followed David to the underground parking lot.

After they got into the car, Rachel looked at David. “Do you want to take a short nap?”

She noticed the fatigue in David’s eyes early on.

“Do you feel sorry for me?” David raised his eyebrows slightly and stared at her with his dark eyes.

Rachel looked at the emotions in the man’s eyes and vaguely guessed where it was going.

She lowered her eyes and changed the subject. “Why did you suddenly come back?”

“I’m worried.” David held Rachel’s hand and rubbed it repeatedly as if he was playing with an object. “I

don’t know what made you protect their dignity and hesitate to attack the Smith family, but I don’t want

you to be used by them again and again because you are soft–hearted. Fortunately, my silly girl didn’t

repeatedly give in…”

Everyone blamed her for being cold–blooded and heartless that day.

Only David said she was soft–hearted…

Hearing that, Rachel could not help but smile. She looked at David curiously. “What if I gave in?”

“They may not be able to walk out of the hotel this easily.”

The man’s casual words were filled with hidden danger.

“No matter how they treated you in the past, they are not reasons for them to use you.” David said

earnestly, “Past kindness toward someone should not be a way for anyone to gain benefits.”

Upon hearing his words, the smile on Rachel’s face disappeared.

“I originally thought that Old Mr. Smith was different from others. When I joined the Smith family, he

was the only one who treated me sincerely. He would bring me a cup of warm ginger tea when I was

drenched in the rain, instruct the servants to send me an umbrella when it rained, leave a lamp for me

in the dead of night, and even give me gifts on New Year’s Eve.”

“During the three years with the Smith family, he was the only one who was not prejudiced against me.

I thought he was different from the others, so I was always grateful. Unfortunately, this gratefulness is

not worth a single cent in the face of benefits!”

Perhaps it was because she had been neglected too much when she was young, so even if someone

just showed her a small kindness, she would remember it in her heart and promise to repay it.

When Old Mr. Smith chose to trade with her using her gratefulness to him, she knew in her heart that

the kindness he showed her had lost its original meaning.

Rachel took a deep breath. “Nobody can’t blame me for the Smith family’s current situation.”
