Dylan's gaze was fixed on her. "Are you sure nothing happened between us?"
"Of course not... absolutely nothing," Suzy replied, her tone defensive.
"Then why do you seem so guilty?" Dylan chuckled lightly, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"Who's guilty? You must be imagining things. First your legs, now your eyes too? You should get that checked!"
Suzy snapped back, her frustration evident.
"If you're done here, you should leave. This is a hospital, not a coffee shop, and | don't have tto entertain
you.
"Suzy," Dylan said evenly. "I know the truth about what happened years ago. The woman who was withthat
night-it was you."
Her heart skipped a beat.
So, he was talking about that night.
She inhaled sharply before replying, "And what if it was? You already took responsibility. Three years of marriage.
"I've experienced everything there was to experience, so whatever happened between us is in the past.”

"Oh, and one more thing. That girl who was with you the other night? | didn't have her take birth control. She
might already be carrying your child."
"So, you're really that eager to seewith someone else?"
"es."
Dylan clenched his fists but knew staying any longer would only lead to more frustration.
Without another word, he turned and left.
Suzy clearly wanted him gone, and if he stayed, she'd only say more to push him away. Continuing the
conversation would do nothing but worsen the fragile dynamic between them
After Dylan left, Suzy remained outside Elliot's room, unwilling to leave even for a moment.
The surgery had been a success, but Suzy couldn't help worrying. Elliot's injuries had been severe, and the first
24 hours after surgery were critical.
Only if he woke up during that window would it truly mean he was out of danger. Four hours had passed, and
there was still no sign of him waking up.
As every second ticked by, Suzy's unease grew.
As a doctor, she'd faced countless dire situations, but this was different. This time, her emotions were tied to the
patient.
Elliot shouldn't have had to go through any of this. He had been driven to it.
Even if someone had deliberately tried to create a rift between them, none of it would have worked if she had
trusted Elliot unconditionally.

They never would have succeeded.
And now, all she could do was wait and hope.
The more Suzy thought about it, the deeper her regret grew, especially as more
hours passed and Elliot remained unconscious.
His vitals were stable, but he simply wouldn't wake up.
As a doctor, Suzy knew this was one of the most dangerous scenarios.
It wasn't a physical issue-it was the patient's own mind refusing to cback.
Thinking about Elliot's determination to end it all, Suzy's worry intensified. She quickly changed into a sterile
gown and entered the ICU.
Standing by his bedside, she spoke softly, her voice firm yet trembling. "Elliot, this might be the work of the
person who poisoned you before.
"Are you really planning to just let them get away with it? Wake up! Let's find them together and make them

"Con, this is just a scratch compared to what you've been through. You've slept long enough-how much
longer are you planning to stay like this?"
Her voice wavered, and a faint sob slipped through. "Or is it that you really don't wantas your mentor
anymore?
"You're my only student, Elliot. My only one. | said all those things that day out of anger. How could | ever not
want you?
"Please, wake up. I'm begging you, as your mentor. Just wake up."
