Chapter 0669

The lingering effects of the Scarlet Veil toxin shouldn't have shown up so quickly, yet Suzy received a call from

Desmond saying that Dylan had suddenly started gasping for air as if he couldn't breathe.

Desmond's voice was laced with urgency, as though Dylan life was hanging by a thread.

Left with no choice, Suzy instructed Allen to continue searching for Elliot while she drove to Bayview Heights.

Desmond met her at the door, his expression full of worry.

"I cby to pick up Mr. Wright for the office, but as soon as | went upstairs, | noticed something was wrong.

First, he looked pale, and within a minute, he was struggling to breathe, as though he was about to suffocate.

"I was afraid it might be like last time-that he'd been poisoned again-so | called you immediately, Mrs. Wright.

Suzy sighed inwardly at his formality. She had corrected him countless times about calling her "Mrs. Wright," but

he never listened.

However, with Dylan in such a critical state, this wasn't the tto address it.

She strode inside, asking as she went, "Other than difficulty breathing, did he have any other symptoms?"

"No, just the shortness of breath. Everything else seems normal," Desmond replied, keeping pace beside her.

"For the past two days, Mr. Wright has either been at hor the office. He hasn't eaten out, nor has he been in

contact with anyone untrustworthy. | don't

understand how this could happen."

"Don't panic," Suzy reassured him.

"It might just be a temporary issue. Anyone can get sick, especially considering he was poisoned not long ago."

As she reached the top of the stairs, she pushed open the door to Dylan's room and saw him lying there, his

breathing labored and uneven.

With just one look, Suzy immediately recognized the cause these were the aftereffects of the Scarlet Veil toxin.

The consequences of the Scarlet Veil weren't limited to infertility. In severe cases, it could be fatal. Dylan's

current state was clearly one of the worst-case scenarios.

Logically, these effects shouldn't have appeared so soon. Normally, they wouldn't manifest until three to five

years later.

But this modified version of Scarlet Veil was far more potent than the original version she had developed. A

chilling thought struck her: what if the target wasn't Elliot, but her?

She had no shortage of enemies, but few had the capability to orchestrate something like this.

With Charlotte and Claude out of the picture, who could possibly be pulling the strings behind the scenes?

For now, she focused on Dylan. Checking his pulse, she noted that although his breathing was erratic, the

situation wasn't yet critical.

Suzy quickly retrieved a small green porcelain bottle from her portable medical kit. She tipped out a tiny white

pill and helped Dylan swallow it.

Almost immediately after taking it, his breathing began to stabilize, and his entire demeanor seemed lighter,

more at ease.

As his breaths evened out, Dylan finally had the strength to speak.

Looking at Suzy, who stood by his bedside, he asked weakly "How's Elliot?"

"You should be more worried about yourself right now," she replied sharply. Here he was, barely clinging to his

own strength, yet still concerned about someone else.

Her gaze softened momentarily as she studied him. After pressing her lips together, she said, "Now that you're

fine, I'll get going."

Seeing her turn away so easily, without the slightest hesitation or concern, Dylan's lips curled into a bitter smile.

He wanted to say something to stop her, but the words caught in his throat. In the end, all he managed was a

quiet, "Alright."

Suzy paused for a moment as she packed up her medical kit her hand stilling briefly before she turned and

walked out without another word.

She knew Dylan was upset-his expression made that painfully clear. She also knew she'd been cold to him.

Allen's words echoed in her mind: Dylan wasn't the sas before.

But there were things she couldn't change right now, especially with the suspicion that a hidden enemy was still

targeting them.

Dylan's condition only added to her worries.

He wasn't just dealing with the limitations of a wheelchair now, he was battling the aftermath of the toxin.

As the sole heir of the Wright family, if he truly lost the ability to have children, the blwould fall squarely on

her shoulders.

And that was a burden she couldn't afford to carry.
