He frowned, straightened up, and had his team trace Mia's cell signal. It turned out her phone was just six miles away.

Staring at the red dot on the screen, he called his people and instructed them to search for her. After arriving home, his phone rang

with a report from his team.

"Mr. Haskins, we found Ms. Mia's phone by the roadside, but there's no sign of her."

That was when Fitch ordered a comprehensive search for Mia's whereabouts. Half an hour later, surveillance footage landed on his

desk.

The video revealed Mia's altercation with Zoey in the mall, followed by Mia slapping Belinda twice.

According to the footage, Zoey left first, while Mia walked away with Belinda. Another camera caught Belinda knocking her out and

stuffing her into the car.

Fitch's expression turned stone cold, asking, "Have you found her?"

"Not yet. That woman's house is empty, and there were a few outgoing calls on Ms. Haskins's phone. She seems to have tried

calling for help, but she called Zoey, who didn't answer."

His face grew even darker. Did Zoey ignore the plea for help because she hated Mia so much that she'd disregard her life?

"Keep searching."

Previously, Belinda had insisted Zoey was behind the poisoning plot, but the issue had fizzled out when the Bennitt family dropped

the charges. Now, with Mia kidnapped, suspicion fell on Zoey once more.

Fitch stared at his phone, contemplating, and finally made a call. But the line was busy.

Was he blocked? His expression turned even grimmer as he looked over at his two bodyguards.

"Bring Zoey to me."

The guards nodded and drove off.

Meanwhile, Zoey had just finished showering. She felt nauseous; her appetite had been poor lately, and her stomach was upset.

She slipped into a robe, intending to lie down, when her doorbell rang. It was the building manager.

"Excuse me, Zoey, are you asleep?"

Zoey opened the door, and before she could respond, she was flanked and firmly held by two bodyguards.

"Who are you? What do you want?"

"Miss, Mr. Haskins requests your presence."

Zoey frowned. Fitch? What did he want with her?

Her gaze was fixed on one of the bodyguards who she had actually seen by Fitch side. They were Fitch's men.

The building manager looked on nervously. Ever since the last incident at Zoey's place, they were extra cautious about visitors.

Tonight's arrivals, however, seemed influential, and the staff didn't want trouble, so they accompanied them personally.

"Zoey."

The manager was in a bind, unable to offend either party.

"It's alright. I'll step out."

She wanted to change, but the bodyguards didn't give her the chance, escorting her downstairs and throwing her into a car. Even

though she didn’t feel pain, there was something she found unsettled.

It wasn't until she reached Fitch's front door that she hesitated. Ironically, during their tangled past, she mostly stayed in a small

villa he probably used for his liaisons. But his own residence, this villa, she had never visited.

As the door opened, she saw him, impeccably seated on the sofa. It was her first glimpse of Fitch's hlife - still in formal attire,

though his suit jacket was off, his tie loosened, thrown aside, adding a touch of rebellion.

She stepped in slowly and as the door closed behind her; the bodyguards didn’t enter, leaving her alone with Fitch in the room.

His gaze was cold and devoid of emotion, "Your mother took Mia. Were you involved?"

Zoey thought her heart couldn't ache anymore, but his accusation still managed to squeeze it tight.

She should've given up on Fitch long ago, but seeing him like this, a voice inside her made excuses for him. He wasn't wrong. He

just didn't love her. The mistake was hers, clinging to vain hope, falling over and over again.

Impatient, Fitch stood up and approached her with long strides, "Zoey, I'm not joking about this."
