Nolan had been crying for what seemed like forever, but the moment he was buckled into the passenger seat, he was practically

out like a light, oblivious to anything being said.

Fitch, on the other hand, felt a deep sense of satisfaction. After securing his son's seatbelt, he affectionately tousled his hair before

heading to the driver's seat.

Over the next two weeks, Zoey made a swift recovery. Spending day and night with Nolan, her affection for him only grew deeper.

On that day, Fitch was driving Nolan back hwhen suddenly, a car accident happened right in front of them. He couldn't swerve

out of the way in time, and with another vehicle slamming into them from behind, he instinctively wrapped his arms around Nolan.

The shattered windshield sent shards embedding into his arms, yet Nolan was miraculously unharmed.

Fitch was shaken, looking down at his son with concern.

“Nolan, are you alright?”

Nolan, surprisingly calm, shook his head slowly. Upon seeing his father's bleeding arms, his tone filled with worry, “Daddy, does it

hurt?”

“It's okay, buddy, I'm fine.”

At that moment, Fitch's phone started ringing - it was Zoey.

But his hand was trapped, making it impossible to reach his phone.

Zoey rarely called first, which made him anxious, “Nolan, can you answer mommy's call?”

Nolan leaned over, retrieving the phone from a corner and hit the answer button.

But then, another collision occurred nearby, part of a chain-reaction crash, apanied by a cacophony of screams and howls.

“Mommy, accident.”

Right after he spoke, the phone screen went dark.

Paramedics arrived at their car, and without hesitation, Fitch said, “Take the kid first.”

Nolan was quickly carried to safety, and seeing his son unharmed, Fitch breathed a sigh of relief.

Someone began using a jack to lift the debris trapping his arm. Fitch winced, the numbness dulling the pain.

Meanwhile, Zoey, hearing the word 'accident' and the chaotic noise on the other end, felt her legs go weak.

She hastily got out of bed upon overhearing the nurses discussing a massive pile-up on the city's overpass involving a dozen cars,

with fatalities including a child. They were clearing the way for iing severely injured patients.

Zoey felt a buzzing in her head. She had been ready to leave the hospital but was stalling to avoid going back to the villa with

Fitch.

Now, Fitch and Nolan were caught in an accident on their way back to see her.

If anything had happened to Nolan...

Panic filled her eyes as she sprinted towards the accident site, etting to put on shoes.

Her feet were cut by sharp objects on the ground, bleeding, but she felt nothing.

Hearing the ambulance sirens, her heart broke all over again.

Her lips trembled, her hair disheveled, passerby could see a woman in a hospital gown running desperately, unaware of her fear.

Halfway there, Zoey nearly passed out from exhaustion.

But upon seeing the mangled cars, a dark veil fell over her eyes, yet a surge of adrenaline pushed her forward.

She frantically checked the faces of those being loaded into ambulances.

“Ma'am, please step aside.”

Zoey stood before another stretcher, trembling as she reached to pull back the sheet.

If Nolan was the one lying there, she felt life would be meaningless.

Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably, but before she could touch the sheet, a familiar voice called out from behind.

“Honey?”
