“Tonight?” Magdalen asked, holding a freesia in her hand, and a smile spread across her face. “Sure, see you
tonight!”
“Where are you? I’ll come to pick you up!” Kevin’s voice was hearty and cheerful.
“I’ve gone back to my mother’s place. Just send me the address, I’ll drive myself
“Alright then, I’ll be waiting for you!”
“Ok, see you tonight!”
Magdalen hung up the call, tossed her phone onto the coffee table and continued arranging her flowers.
“Wasn’t that Morrison?” Mrs. Sampson asked, casting a side glance at her.

“You should stop hanging around with these random guys and focus on Morrison. If you upset him, don’t expect me
to side with you!” Mrs. Sampson admonished.
Magdalen shot her a glance, “We’re not married yet, so he’s not your son-in-law. I am your biological daughter.
You’re going through menopause, not suffering from dementia. Remind yourself of that!”
“Morrison means more to me than a son-in-law, he’s like a real son!” Mrs. Sampson retorted, holding her glass of
juice and giving Magdalen a stern look. “He treats me better than you do!”
Magdalen took a deep breath and decided not to argue: She grabbed her phone and stepped outside to make
another call..
Once the call connected, hearing Estelle’s soothing voice improved her mood slightly. “Hey beautiful, how about we
meet up tonight?”
Estelle was longing on a hammock chair, resting on Jonathan’s lap, lazily swinging back and forth under the setting
sun. She replied in a relaxed tone, “Not tonight”
Magdalen sounded displeased, “Morrison doesn’t have time for me, now you’re ignoring me too?”
Estelle lazily opened her eyes and asked, “Where’s Morrison?”
“Probably busy.”
Estelle paused for a moment, then asked, “Where are you?”
Magdalen immediately perked up, I’ll send you the address in a bit. Come over early, and feel free to bring your
partner!”
Estelle responded, “Alright then”

Estelle looked up at him, “She wants to meet up tonight, do you want to come?”
Jonathan asked, “Where?”
Estelle checked the address Magdalen sent her on her phone, “Fairview Hotel
Fairview Hotel was a garden-style hotel, with a stream running through the property and it featured rockeries,
ancient trees, pavilions, terraces, and towers everywhere you looked. It was a quiet and elegant place.
Estelle was a bit surprised, as she didn’t expect Magdalen to want to meet at such a place.
Fairview Hotel?” Jonathan was surprised as well, “I was supposed to meet a client there tonight, but I sent Chuck
instead. I’ll just go myself” “Great” Estelle said
Jonathan leaned in to give her a light kiss on her forehead, his voice soft, “Go change, we’ll leave soon.”
Estelle looked down at her T-shirt and gave a small smile, I think this is fine.”

Jonathan chuckled, holding her hand and leading her back to the villa to change.
