woman in his lifetime. Even after he made mistakes, she was willing to bear children for him, a blessing
that many people longed for.
Noticing his gaze, Lucas looked up in confusion. Huston was afraid that the child might glimpse the
emotions in his eyes, so he quickly averted his gaze and continued to carefully arrange the dishes.
Lucas finished one dish and Huston promptly handed him another one, without interruption. Huston
himself didn’t eat too much, as he was focused on watching Lucas the whole time.
Lucas couldn’t help reminding Huston, “You should eat too. I can handle it by myself.”
He knew that the child’s words didn’t carry any deep meaning, but still, his eyes turned red when he
heard them.
Being a 37-year-old man, he had experienced all sorts of trials and tribulations, yet it was in matters
concerning Evelyn and the child that he felt deeply moved. A single sentence could make him drop his
guard and behave like a young man in his twenties.
