The Goulds were a famous financial group in Ylore, so Christopher's funeral was broadcasted live on TV.
The day was overcast, and there was a light drizzle.
Avery could have remained in the hotel and watched the broadcast from the comfort of her room, but she had decided to venture out and see the funeral for herself. She was hoping that she would be able to see Elliot.

He got his driver to stop the car before he dialed Avery's number.
"Are you here to see Elliot?" Nick teased. " You're standing so far away; how are you going to spot him? Come over here. I'll get you in." Avery looked around. A car pulled up in front of her. She saw Nick sitting in the car.
Nick's bodyguard pushed the crowd apart as he made his way toward Avery. He invited her into the car.
"Nick, thank you! | won't enter the hotel. I'll just stand by the entrance," said Avery gratefully once she was seated.
"| certainly won't be able to get you into the hotel! What if Gary pulls out a gun and shoots you? How am | going to face Elliot then?" chuckled Nick. "If you're here to see the show, why did you not come earlier? Look at the people holding their cameras. They were here the night before." Avery lowered her gaze. "My decision to come here was a last-minute one. My son told me that Gary had beaten Elliot up."
