Chapter 382

Jason swung open the car door, hopping out from the passenger side.

Today, he found himself temporarily summoned by Cassius, stepping back into the role of the executive

assistant to the CEO of the K Group. Dressed in a sharply tailored slate–grey suit, his eyes stern and

piercing, he was a sight for sore eyes.

Admiring glances from female employees were sent his way, but he paid them no mind. Opening the

rear car door, he bowed respectfully.

“President Ashbourne, this way.”

Cassius‘ calm and handsome face was void of any emotion, like a flawless and timeless statue.

As he moved his long legs and stepped out of the car, the women around him gasped in awe!

“Damn! He’s so hot! Tonight’s dream material, check!”

“Greedy much? You already have Mr. Abernathy in your dreams, and now you want to add another?”

“Is he really that handsome? I don’t think he’s as good as our Mr. Abernathy.”

“You really don’t appreciate beauty, do you? This man and Mr. Abernathy are two different styles. Mr.

Abernathy is devastatingly handsome, while this man is understatedly attractive, silently gripping your

heart, even more beguiling, don’t you think?”

“But who is this guy? Why is he showing up at the Abernathy Group’s entrance? Is he looking for

someone?

Cassius, as impassive as ever, walked into the entrance of the Abernathy Group building.

Jason followed closely behind. Despite there being only two of them, they exuded an intangible

pressure that felt overwhelming to those around them.

Upon reaching the receptionist, Jason spoke first, his voice icy cold, “We’re here for Mr. Abernathy.”

“Mr. Abernathy?!”

The receptionist was taken aback.

Mr. Abernathy was a big shot, someone they hardly saw more than twice a year. His appointments

were usually handled by his executive assistant, Gordon. No one just walked in demanding to see Mr.

Abernathy.

“Do you have an appointment?” the receptionist asked, sticking to protocol.

Jason, “No.”

“I’m sorry, but you cannot see Mr. Abernathy without an appointment. Please contact Mr. Gordon.”

“Just let Thaddeus know, or his secretary.”

Cassius, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke, “The person who wants to see him is Cassius,

CEO of the K Group.”

Cassius.

Cassius?!

The receptionist was dumbfounded. It took her a moment to snap back to reality before she hurriedly

picked up the phone to call Gordon.

Without waiting for Gordon to greet them downstairs, Cassius and Jason took the elevator up to the

floor where the conference room was located.

As they stepped into the corridor, they were stopped by security guards.

“Tell Mr. Abernathy to come see me.” Cassius spoke, his face expressionless.

“Mr. Abernathy is in an important meeting and cannot see anyone right now. Please leave.” The

security guard’s tone was somewhat firm.

Who did they think they were, coming unannounced demanding to see Mr. Abernathy? What did they

think this place was?

If he let them in easily, he might as well quit his job.

Cassius narrowed his dark eyes, his gaze deep and unfathomable, and continued to walk forward.

As the two security guards reached out to stop him, Jason suddenly stepped in front of Cassius.

With a stern expression, he threw two swift punches, knocking both guards to the ground.

It wasn’t that the guards were weak, but they never expected these men to actually start a fight on the

premises of the Abernathy Group!

They scrambled to their feet, yelling for backup and trying to fight back.

However, they were no match for Jason’s fighting skills. Personally trained by Cassius in his youth, he

was not to be trifled with

Jason’s eyes were fierce. This time, he didn’t throw any punches, instead, using swift kicks to take

down the two guards who couldn’t even get back up.

“Quite weak for the Abernathy Group’s security guards. If Thaddeus is relying on you to protect him,

he’s probably not long for this world,” Jason sneered, brushing the dust off his suit, moving his neck as

if he had just stretched his muscles.

“Jason, let’s go.“/

Cassius, with his gaze fixed forward, walked ahead, his steps firm and unyielding.

At that moment, Gordon rushed out of the conference room at the sound of the commotion, once again

trying to stop them.

“President Ashbourne, we welcome you here, but you can’t just go around hitting our Abernathy

Group’s employees. This isn’t reasonable or right, don’t

“Will Thaddeus come out, or should I go in?” Cassius asked, as if he hadn’t heard him.

Gordon’s face darkened with anger, “I’m sorry, but Mr. Abernathy is in a meeting and cannot see you.

Please leave.”

Cassius lifted the corner of his mouth ever so slightly, moving closer to him.

Gordon’s heart pounded, and he raised his arms to block him.

you think?”

“AH

In the next second, Cassius swiftly grabbed his arm, twisting it behind his back before forcefully

pushing him away. Gordon even didn’t realize what had just happened

Gordon hit the floor, his arm dislocated!

He gritted his teeth in pain, sweat dripping from his forehead. He watched helplessly as Cassius and

Jason walked into the conference room. The atmosphere in the conference room was tense.

Thaddeus, with his handsome posture, sat at the head of the conference table, exuding an aura of

authority.

The high–ranking officials held their breaths, attentively listening to his low, steady voice outlining the

work plans.

However, the sound of the door being broken open drew everyone’s attention to Cassius and Jason.

Everyone in the room was shocked and bewildered.

Who among them didn’t recognize the intruders?

Thaddeus knew they had arrived, but he ignored them, continuing to read from his report.

“Thaddeus, we need to talk.” Cassius spoke, his eyes cold and steely.

He directly addressed him by his name in front of everyone, not bothering to save Mr. Abernathy any

face.

Thaddeus paused for a moment, his long lashes lifting to meet Cassius‘ dark gaze.

“Let’s end here for today. We will continue tomorrow. Meeting adjourned.”

The high–ranking executives rose in unison, and in the blink of an eye, the conference room was left

with just the three of them. The air thickened, the atmosphere oppressive.

“President Ashbourne, if you have something to say, now is the time,” Thaddeus looked at him, his

expression unreadable.

Cassius was already furious, and seeing Thaddeus‘ nonchalant, uninvolved demeanor only fueled his

anger.

Unbeknownst to him, Thaddeus had been battling an illness, and the effort of attending the meeting

had drained him of almost all his energy. He had been relying on medication to keep him going.

Internally, he felt fragile. His back was drenched in cold sweat.

“Thaddeus, you laid your hands on my sister,” Cassius‘ voice was icy, the air around him chilling.

Upon hearing this, Jason felt as though he had been struck by lightning, a surge of rage rushing to his

eyes.

What did he mean by “laid hands on“?

Had Thaddeus truly touched Ms. Ashbourne?

How could he? how dared he?!

Jason felt an unprecedented heartache, as if a giant hand was choking him, making it hard for him to

breathe.

Thaddeus‘ breath hitched, his hand on the table slowly clenching into a fist, his eyes burning red, “I will

take responsibility for her, as long as she is willing to be my wife again.”

Then, as if he had become a different person, he laughed bitterly, a hint of madness in his eyes, “But I

think, she probably doesn’t want to repeat the past.”

Cassius–lips curled into a cold smirk, his expression carved from stone, handsome yet brutal.

“Thaddeus! Do you understand what divorce means?!”

Jason, unable to bear it any longer, shouted angrily, “Divorce means you are no longer husband and

wife, and you have no right to touch Ms. Ashbourne! How could you lay your hands on her? How could

you?!”

“What’s done is done. There’s nothing left to say.”

Thaddeus thought back to that night, and his heart trembled, his eyes reddening.

He had overpowered Evadne, spending the night entwined with her, their bodies burning with passion.

He wanted to explore her deeper and deeper, to penetrate her very soul. He never wanted to leave her

again.

He wanted to become one with her, his being inside her, her being inside him.

With a loud bang, Cassius nimbly jumped on the table.

In a few steps, he arrived in front of Thaddeus, looking down at him from his elevated position.

“Thaddeus, you, truly, deserve, to die.”

In the next second, Cassius lunged forward, throwing Thaddeus to the ground!

They both fell heavily to the floor, and Jason called out in surprise, “President Ashbourne! Watch out!”

Thaddeus‘ back took a heavy hit, causing a terrible impact on his internal organs.

Suddenly, a cold light flashed before his eyes!

Cassius was staring at him fiercely, a sharp crucifix dagger in his hand, raised high and aimed at

Thaddeus‘ pupils, as if about to deliver a cruel divine punishment.

“President Ashbourne! Don’t!” Jason cried out in panic.

He could completely understand Cassius‘ feelings. Although he despised Thaddeus for taking Ms.

Ashbourne’s chastity, if Cassius really killed Thaddeus, not only would he be drawn into endless

trouble, but Ms. Ashbourne would also be plunged into deep guilt. This was not the situation Ms.

Ashbourne would want to see.

President Ashbourne, a noble figure like a clear moon in the sky, should not dirty his hands for this

despicable man.

As the blade was about to pierce his eyeball, Thaddeus showed no fear. Instead, he looked desperate

and numb.

“Cassius! Stop it!”

Just in the nick of time, Jareth arrived, flying forward to hold Cassius back, using all his strength to

push him to the ground.

The sharp blade changed direction.

Thaddeus felt a chill at his neck, followed by a sharp pain.

The blade had drawn a long cut across his neck, blood oozing out, a shocking sight.

Thaddeus lay flat on the ground, reaching up to touch his neck. His palm felt sticky, yet it somehow

made him feel a little better.

If Jareth had been a second later, the blade would have pierced his eye.

Cassius was not one to take action easily. Once he did, he’d make sure that the one would remember

him for a lifetime, and hate him for a lifetime.

Cassius stared at him with bloodshot eyes, the tip of the knife pressing against Jareth’s neck, “Move

aside, don’t interfere.”

“I’m interfering in this damn mess!”

Jareth gasped for breath, gritting his teeth and pointing at his heart, “Have the guts, kill me, stab here!

It’s my fault that Thaddeus and Evadne are involved in this. I’m the mastermind! Blame me for

everything! Don’t hurt Thaddeus. If you want to kill, kill me! I won’t fight back. But have you considered

how Evadne feels about this? Does she want to see this situation? Does she want to see her beloved

brother with blood on his hands?!”

The mention of Evadne’s name was like a sedative for Cassius.

His murderous gaze gradually cooled.

Seeing Cassius put away his dagger, Jareth finally breathed a sigh of relief. God knew how nervous he

had been; his heart was about to jump out of his chest.

“President Ashbourne!” Jason hurried over, helping him up.

Jareth also went to help Thaddeus, his hand still trembling slightly, his heart still in his throat.

He thought he was tough enough, dealing with both the good and the bad. He didn’t expect Cassius,

the son of the Ashbourne family, to dare to attack in broad daylight in someone else’s conference room.

Damn devil!

Cassius wanted to say something else, but with the situation as it was, he didn’t want to waste another

word on Thaddeus.

Indeed.

He did not deserve Evadne’s love nor did he deserve to dirty his hands.

He was destined to live and die alone!

“Do not bother my sister again. This is your final warning.”

Cassius put the crucifix back in the pocket of his suit jacket, his eyes as red as blood, “Jason, let’s go.”

As they turned to leave, Thaddeus spoke in a hoarse voice:

“As long as she agrees, I’ll marry her.”

Cassius let out a raucous laugh, his back towards him, his tone dripping with contempt, “You’re not

worthy. Even if every man in the world were to drop dead, my sister would never marry you.”
