Lily pondered the question before this and could not make sense of it, especially after retrieving the data from the encrypted
database.
The institute was researching many types of poisons simultaneously, and they experimented with their products on many people,
as shown by the data. This proved that the organization had its share of capable researchers.
There were many people out there who were well-versed in the field of pharmacology, such as Rhea. Hence, Lily did not
understand why they were so persistent in recruiting her into the team. The only possible reason she cup with was related to
the concept Professor Thompson had at the initial stage of the experiment.
They wanted to blend the medicinal properties thoroughly with the fragrances, making its users unknowingly take medicine into
their bodies.
Professor Thompson's vision was to use this new creation to save lives, but the wicked organization went against his original

“You're right,” Mike admitted with certainty without any hesitation this taround. “To be frank, | have no idea about the core of
their plan, but the thing they're developing is still a bit short of success. Just a tiny bit short of it, and they've delayed it for a long
time.
“I'm guessing that it's their last step before succeeding. They've recruited other perfumers to participate in the research, but the
materials were never a perfect blend, perhaps because they were from different professions.
“You were the only one who made it happen!” Mike continued after a pause, “Plus, you achieved many milestones while you were
working for the institute. That made the organization want to recruit you even more! Hence, your safety is guaranteed for the time
being.”
In other words, they would not kill her yet because she could still provide value to them.
Lily could not help but chuckle at the sound of that. “In that case, should | be grateful to the organization?”
A hint of awkwardness flashed across Mike's face as he lightly coughed to cover it up. “I know it seems hypocritical to say this, but
| must clarify that I'm not with them.”
“As you said, you were forced and controlled into doing things unwillingly, but why are you telling us all this now? Are you no longer
afraid of their threats? Or have you figured things out? Or... are you going to give up on Nicky?”
Mike retorted immediately. “I would never leave Nick! | could die and rot in the pits of hell, but he can’t!”
Lily said nothing. She knew Mike would not just abandon his son, but his words still shocked her. As a mother, she understood how
much parents loved their children. She was not scared of anything, except for her child encountering danger and getting hurt in
the process.
Almost subconsciously, she gently stroked her belly with a hand and lowered her gaze in silence.

Seeing that she would not say anything, Alexander leaned forward and crossed his arms as he said, “Are you here for my help?”
“| can’t just sit around and wait any longer!” Mike propped his hands on his knees and stood up. He paced the room while taking in
deep breaths. It seemed like it took him a lot of courage to make this decision.
“That side is pressuringnow. They orderedto do anything to get you on board to help the organization. | know | won't be
able to convince you, and | don’t know what else | can do. After spondering, | decided to be honest. Let's cooperate on this!”
Mike proposed.
“Cooperate?” Alexander lifted his head to look at Mike.
“Actually, | have a plan...” Mike leaned toward Alexander but looked at Lily. He trailed off and just stared at Lily profoundly.
Lily turned to look at Mike, but before she could say anything, she heard Alexander reject decisively, “No!”
