Chapter 769: Someone Stirring Trouble for Tina in Front of Her Father All were battle-hardened comrades. Armel followed Ruud into the living room and sat down. "She had the arrest warrant in hand, yet he still wanted to argue. He said Miss Reed was wrong to stuff that woman into the trunk. Lucky for him, Miss Reed didn't make a fuss, got in her car, and left. Otherwise, they would've cto blows." Gabe, clearly indignant, covered his head and retorted, "How is that my fault? Even the police don't shove criminals into the trunk like that. That Miss Reed? She tossed that woman in like it was nothing! What kind of legitimate law enforcemen does that? She's practically a member of the underworld!" "I was just asking questions. Look at how defensive they both were. How could I not be suspicious? Who knows what kind of person she really is?" Armel almost laughed in disbelief. "Con now. You don't know Miss Reed, fine. But you don't know Hayden either? When we tagged along with Ruud to deal with the X Bureau a while back, he was one of them. With him around, what could possibly go wrong?" "Yeah, and he resigned too!" Gabe barked back.
Unable to win the argument with Armel, Gabe turned to Ruud with a complaint. "Bro, you didn't see it. That Miss Reed-tiny thing, but man, is she domineering. The woman she tied up had almost killed someone else, and she didn't waste a second grabbing her. Almost strangled her! I asked around, and apparently, the woman she caught is srapist's relative. Sure, Adriana Smith might've been wrong to attack someone, but even if she wanted to arrest her, did she have to choke her? How's that different from vigilante justice?" "Maybe she had other charges she couldn't disclose?" Armel rubbed his temples. "Ruud, you be the judge. This guy's impossible. He just gets fixated, even when there's a warrant involved!" Ruud, tired of their bickering, closed his eyes halfway. His deep, dark gaze settled on the edge of the coffee table as his brows furrowed tighter.
"Gabe wasn't wrong. Without knowing the full truth, stepping in to question her wasn't unreasonable," Ruud finally said, his tone measured. He knew his brother's character well.
If even someone as straightforward as Gabe felt something wasn't right, it only proved that Tina's actions had been excessive.
Thinking about this, Ruud's mood soured further. "That said, Tina's personality has its flaws. Honestly, I'm surprised Mr. Watson chose her and Jared to lead the new department." Jared was passable.
But Tina? From all the signs so far, Ruud couldn't see her as someone trustworthy. Selfish, unreliable, cunning, and deceitful.

For once, someone sided with Gabe against Armel. Gabe shook his head triumphantly.
Armel shot him a disdainful glance before casting an odd look at Ruud.
Their General Praevion wasn't one to make snap judgments about people. What exactly had Tina done to earn such disapproval from him? How strange.
At Tina's villa, she walked in with Hayden. Elsa and Jared immediately met them at the door.
"Tina, cquickly! Take a look at Sally," Elsa said, her eyes red and swollen. Without waiting for Tina to respond, she grabbed her hand and led her toward Sally's room.
"She's been running a fever since earlier, and the medicine isn't working. It's almost 104 degrees now. Is something seriously wrong?" "Letsee." Tina's pupils contracted slightly as she took charge.
She released Elsa's hand and stepped into the room first.
On the pink bed, Sally's little face was flushed red from the high fever, like an overripe fruit.
The damp towel on her forehead had done little to ease her discomfort. Her slightly parted pink lips struggled to draw breath, and her throat emitted faint, pained whimpers, like an injured little animal. Tina reached out to touch her, frowning at the scorching heat she felt.
She opened the drawer, pulled out a set of silver needles, and began inserting them into specific acupuncture points one by one. "She's been frightened," Tina murmured.
As the needles went in, Sally's complexion visibly improved.
Tina turned to Elsa. "How's your husband doing?" Elsa, though relieved to see Sally's condition stabilize, still felt her heart ache. "He's doing better. His injuries were serious, but thanks to the emergency care you gave him and the ointment, the bleeding has stopped. He even woke up earlier and ate a little. But Sally's condition was worse than his-I was so terrified." "Those people are heartless," Elsa continued, her voice trembling with anger. "They wanted the formula. They could've cfordirectly, but why torment my family? If it weren't for me, Sally and my husband wouldn't have suffered like this!" Tina closed Sally's door, leaving it slightly ajar.
She instructed Jayden's team to keep an eye on the child, then led Elsa to the living room.

Her gaze shifted to Dexter, who was typing away on a laptop nearby. "Is everything submitted?" "Relax, Tina," Dexter said, making an OK gesture.
He didn't forget to glare at Jared as he spoke. "The court summons will be delivered this afternoon. All we need now is to gather the witnesses. Once the trial starts, leave the rest to me." Hayden tilted his chin toward the person lying on the floor. "There. One witness down. The others should be on their way."
"The one who accused Mr. Dyer of taking bribes will arrive at the villa this afternoon," Jayden added. "Now, the biggest issue is that girl with severe depression who attempted suicide. She's constantly guarded by the Hidden family, making it hard to get close to her." Thunder rumbled outside.
Tina's tone remained calm. "No matter. The evidence we have is enough to dismantle their previous claims." Elsa wiped her tears, still uncertain about Tina's plan. "Do you really think this will be enough to take down Mrs. Ogden and even the Bailey family?" Raindrops began to pelt against the windowpane.
Tina gazed out, her eyes briefly reflecting the storm outside. In the next moment, the torrential rain, driven by howling winds, slammed against the glass.
Her hand, resting on the velvet sofa, traced slow circles as she spoke.
"The broken window effect. Taking down Mrs. Ogden's argument isn't difficult. The hard part is dragging the Bailey family out into the open and t exposing them. We need everyone to see that whether it was the Dyer family tragedy or Mr. Dyer's case, it's all been their doing-just to steal what's in your hands." Jared followed her gaze to the storm outside. "You're worried the Bailey family has more schemes in store?"
