Chapter 1256 It was not an exaggeration to say that John was the one responsible for Shannon‘s arrest.

His email did not mention anything about him apologizing or lowering himself to meet her. The words screamed

arrogance and egoism as he asked her to go back to him before he forgave her for what she had done.

Aside from the fact that what Sherry had done to John six years ago was against her will, even if she did it

voluntarily , she had been imprisoned at the Stocktons‘ residence for two years and tortured sexually. The torment

she had received was more than enough to make up for what she had done to him.

As Sherry‘s chest started to tighten, tears uncontrollably rolled down her eyes, and she started to choke on her

emotions.

Just when she was about to break down in tears, a tiny pair of hands held her face.

“Aunt Sherry, why are you crying?” Isabel had somehow woken up without her realizing it and came up to her. The

girl was looking at her crying face worriedly.

Sherry immediately wiped her tears away. “I–I‘m fine. I

just saw a touching video.”

“Adults like to lie,” Isabel said with pouty lips. “It must be that man making you sad again, am I right?”

Sherry forced a bitter smile on her face.

Isabel gave her a piece of tissue and said, “Crying is nothing shameful , so just cry if you want. Don‘t keep it all

inside you. Release it.”

Sherry smiled weakly, and her tears poured out like a waterfall. She never thought that a six–year–old would offer

her comfort and make her cry like a baby.

While drowning in her tears, she stammered , “Can I–I hug you?”

Isabel sighed. She crawled into Sherry‘s arms and hugged her waist. In response, Sherry hugged the girl tightly and

continued sobbing.

The grievance from six years ago and the torment of two years overwhelmed her, causing her to cry her lungs out

and fill the quiet ward with her sobbing.

It took her some time to finally calm down.

Isabel patted her back to offer comfort. Her voice might have been meek as a child, but it screamed of maturity

when she said, “Only a bastard will make a woman cry. Forget him. You will meet someone better.”

Sherry smiled. After wiping her face dry, she carried the

girl and kissed her chubby cheeks multiple times.

Isabel sighed like an adult. “Aunt Sherry, are you feeling better now?”

Sherry smiled. “I‘m a lot better. Thank you, my baby Isabel.”

Isabel pouted. “Then, let‘s get some sleep.”

“Alright.”

Sherry switched off the lamp by the table and lay down with the girl.

The girl crawled onto her chest and put a hand over her waist as though she was lullabying a baby to sleep.

Sherry smiled and closed her eyes. Venting her emotions exhausted her. After the girl fell asleep, Sherry swiftly

followed her into dreamland.

The next morning, at the Carters, John got up after having some breakfast. He smiled at the couple and said, “

Thank you for your hospitality , Master and Mrs. Carter. I‘ll be taking my leave.”

Odell smiled. “You‘re welcome, Master Stockton.”

Sylvia‘s expression remained cold as she glared at him silently.

John looked at Liam and Flint. “Bye–bye, little men.”

Liam wore a cool expression and replied, “Take care, Uncle John.”

Flint murmured, “Care... care...”

John smiled and walked out of the house as Odell and Sylvia saw him off at the door.

After the car left their sight, Sylvia sighed a breath of relief. “He won‘t be coming again, will he?”

“I‘m not sure about that.” Odell held her hand and returned inside. “Before he finds Sherry, he might come

knocking again.” Sylvia frowned. “He hurt Sherry and he still wants her back? What a shameless man.”

Odell stared at her grumpy expression deeply and decided to remain silent.
