“Are you here to help her with work?”
“No.” Carl narrowed his eyes in a curve. “I’m here to see her.”
Sherry furrowed her brows.
Before she could glare at Carl, John asked, “See her? Are you here to inspect her work then?”
“No. I’m just here to keep an eye on her so that she won’t go looking for men behind my back.”
John pursed his lips.
The atmosphere in the room somehow got awkward.
Sherry glared at Carl. “Carl, you better shut-”
“Are you two having a relationship? Why would she go looking for other men behind your back?” John asked,
interrupting Sherry.
Carl narrowed his eyes further and locked eyes with John. “Master John, you have no idea. Sister Sherry here is

The atmosphere plunged into dead silence.
Only Caprice’s munching could be heard.
Carl ignored Sherry’s furious glare and continued locking eyes with John.
John stared at him coldly. A moment later, he curled his lips. “Future wife? Are you engaged?”
“Nope. Not yet. But soon.” Carl then winked at Sherry.” Am I right, Sister Sherry?”
Sherry wanted to curse out loud, but Caprice was in her arms. She did not want to give the girl a bad influence. She
stared at Carl and said, “Carl, can you just shut up and eat? Stop talking nonsense.”
“I’m not talking nonsense. My mom sees you as her future daughter-in-law, and she even said if you marry me, the
company will be ours in the future. Did you forget about that?” Carl said with a smile.
Sherry choked on his words. She instantly felt a pair of ferocious and gloomy eyes looking at her from the side
through the golden–framed glasses.
John curled his lips, but his smile was frostier than ice. ” Sherry, I didn’t know you’re Madam Sager’s future
daughter–in-law and the heir to their company.”
Sherry frowned. “I’m not—”
“Sister Sherry, did you really forget what my mom said?” Carl looked at her with narrowed eyes.
Sherry pursed her lips.
John’s expression turned frostier. Not even the golden- framed glasses could contain the gloominess in his eyes.
The atmosphere plunged into the deepest icy abyss all of a sudden.
It was then that Caprice looked up as though she noticed the tension in the air while eating, so she asked, “Daddy,
Mommy, what’s wrong?”
Sherry smiled at her immediately. “Nothing’s wrong.‘
John also wore a fake smile and said, “Caprice, come here.” He reached out to the girl.
Caprice pursed her lips. She looked at Sherry, seemingly hesitant about going to her father, but it only lasted for
two seconds before she crawled over.
John hugged her in his arms.

At the very next second, John bolted up with Caprice and said to Carl, “Young Master Sager, I have something else
to attend to. Please excuse me.”
Carl smiled. “Alright. Take care, Master Stockton.”
John strode out of the room, leaving Sherry stunned.
He left!?
Sherry bolted up and went after him. “Caprice hasn’t finished her meal!” In other words, she had not hugged her
daughter enough.
John ignored her and strode to the parking lot.
The driver came out and opened the door for him.
John put Caprice inside the car before he got in himself.
Sherry saw Caprice looking at her, but before she could get a closer look at the girl’s adorable face, the door was
slammed shut.
The car then drove out of her sight.
