Chapter 400

Larissa spent a long time coaxing Aster before he finally calmed down.

After he had eaten and taken a shower, Aster put himself to bed.

He was mature for his age because Larissa and Wendy often traveled for work. He had to learn to

manage himsell since preschool.

Massaging her throbbing temples. Larissa collapsed on the sofa and made another video call to Wendy

again,

Seeing as Larissa was alone, Wendy asked, “Is Aster asleep?”

“Yes.“Larissa sighed. “He refused to leave without me.”

“Give him some time. He’ll come to terms with reality in a couple of days.” Wendy had spent more time

taking care of Aster, thus, she understood his personality better than Larissa.

“I hope so, Larissa pursed her lips.

“When do you start work? Wendy continued.

“Tomorrow.” Larissa had just sent an email to Winston Hotel’s senior management, informing them of a

meeting in the conference room at 9 am sharp.

“So soon? Wendy was somewhat surprised.

Looking disapproving, she chided Larissa. “Aren’t you pushing yourself too hard? You don’t even have

enough time to get over the jet lag and time difference

“I’m line.” Over the years. Larissa had grown accustomed to working late nights. She found little

difference between working in the day or late at night.

Wendy often urged her to take better care of herself and not take her health for granted, but Larissa

never took her advice seriously.

“You’re not fine at all! Look at your dark circles in the mimor!” Wendy exclaimed, frustrated that she

couldn’t do anything about Larissa’s stubbomness.

“It’s alright. I just have to put on more foundation.” Larissa said nonchalantly.

Exasperated, Wendy silently wished that she could book the next flight over and put Larissa to sleep

personally. Taking a deep breath to calm herself down, Wendy continued, “So, are you doing okay?”

“What?” Larissa didn’t understand what she was referring to. “What do you mean?”

Wendy licked her lips and asked cautiously. “I mean, are you okay after coming back to Bartham?”

Larissa smiled faintly. “I’m fine.”

Wendy still couldn’t put her worries to rest. “Remember to tell me at once if anything bad were to

happen to you. If you find it too hard to continue in Bartham, come back immediately. Even with my

salary alone, I can support both you and Aster!”

Her grandiose promise made Larissa chuckle heartily, “Sure.”

They chatted for a while longer before Wendy noticed the time and urged Larissa, “It’s getting late, go

to sleep now!”

After ending the video call, Larissa remained on the sofa. She opened her emails and finished her work

one after another. Unknowingly, the sky had already turned dark outside.

Larissa took a shower, changed into casual clothes, and woke Aster up from his sleep. “Do you want to

go to the supermarket with me?”

Yawning, Aster rubbed his tired eyes and mumbled in a sweet voice, “Yes.”

At the main entrance of the apartment complex was a large supermarket chain. Coincidentally,

residents from the nearby residential areas got off from work at this time, so the supermarket was quite

crowded. Long queues could be seen at the checkout counters.

It was Aster’s first time seeing so many people milling about. He looked around excitedly, fascinated by

the hubbub.

just placed a large pint of fresh milk in the cart when she heard a familiar voice. “Larissa?

Larissa’s heart skipped a beat,

She slowly locked up and saw Dylan’s astonished expression.

“You’re back?” Dylan took a few steps forward and grabbed her wrists in delight.

Previously. Larissa had left the country in a hurry.

By the time he learned about her departure, she was already halfway across the ocean.

Dylan had tried calling her and sent her numerous messages, but he never received a reply.

He never expected to meet Larissa at the supermarket of all places.
