Preston withdrew his hand, frozen in mid–air, and kept a
suitable distance from her.
“Harper, believe me, I really didn’t have a relationship with
her.”

now. I wish you both happiness.”
After saying this, Elsie left, but before getting into the car, shel turned around and glanced at the two of
