Chapter 343

He could hardly believe that she was the daughter of that detestable man!

A chill emanated from Lysander, like the cold vastness of a nighttime sky.

Just then, Lysander’s pocket buzzed. He pulled out his phone, saw it was his grandfather calling, and

paused for a fraction of a second before answering.

“Lysander, it’s been a week. Have you figured out anything about Thalassa’s character?” Zephyr asked

straightforwardly.

“Grandpa, you should spend more time with grandma instead.” Lysander evaded, not wanting his

grandparents constantly worrying about him.

“Ah, I know I’m nagging. Get some rest soon. Goodnight,” sighed Zephyr before ending the call.

Lysander tossed his phone aside and took a deep drag on his cigarette.

Thalassa paced in the hotel room, restless and clueless.

She had tried to leave once again, only to be turned back by his bodyguard.

Was Lysander planning to keep her cooped up in the hotel room forever?

She needed to get home.

Checking her phone, she found that it was already 00:03

She had assured her mother that she would be home soon.

It had been three to four hours since then, and she still wasn’t home.

Just as she began to worry, her phone rang.

She hurriedly answered, “Hello, Mom.”

“You little devil, where are you? You promised to come home! You keep us up all night can’t we get a

decent night’s sleep?” Evelyn, her mother, sounded both angry

and worried..

Thalassa held her phone away from her ear to avoid her mother’s loud voice damaging her eardrums.

Only when Evelyn’s rant slowed down did Thalassa bring her phone back to her ear, at a loss for how

to explain.

“Mom, I’m at a night market with Hertha. Once we’re done, I’ll come straight home,” Thalassa lied, not

wanting her mother to worry. Whenever she was with Hertha, Evelyn was at ease.

“What are you doing out so late? It’s dangerous for two girls to hang out late at night, come back

quickly,” Evelyn fretted over their safety.

“Okay, Mom. I’ll try to come home as soon as possible. You should go to sleep, don’t wait up for me,”

Thalassa tried to soothe.

“You better hurry back, Evelyn ordered sternly.

“Okay, okay, I will,” Thalassa hastily agreed, hoping to reassure her mother.

After ending the call, Thalassa exhaled a sigh of relief.

To leave, she needed Lysander’s permission.

Swallowing her fear, she dialed Lysander’s number.

With each ring, her heart pounded anxiously.

After several rings without an answer, Thalassa’s heart hung in suspense,

Just when she thought Lysander wouldn’t answer her call, her call was picked up. There was silence

on the other end, but she could feel a chill seeping through the phone line.

Her heart tightened and her spine stiffened. She weakly said, “Lysander, ah, no, Mr. Sinclair, I didn’t eat

when I went out earlier. I’m feeling faint from hunger, can I go out to get some late-night snack?”

“Missing one meal won’t kill you,” Lysander’s icy voice retorted.

Thalassa was about to say something else when she heard the dial tone.

He had hung up.

Frowning, Thalassa dialed his number again.
