Impatiently, Thalassa reached out to push him away, “Scram, will you?”
But he caught her hand in his large grip, and with a gentle pull, she found herself spun around into the
fortress of his chest. His broad torso enveloped her with a powerful and secure embrace.
His dominant presence, the distinctly masculine scent of him, seeped into Thalassa’s being, causing
her heart to race like a deer caught in headlights.

Lysander, however, took a step forward, one foot on the bed, the other still on the floor, leaning over
her.

Thalassa’s pupils dilated, her heart tightened, the uneasy premonition now a loud alarm in
her head.
Had he discovered her mother’s secret? Being violated by Bruce was a devastating blow to her mother,
but for Lysander, would he mock her? Take perverse pleasure in her pain?

Breathing heavily from fear, she looked into his steady, certain eyes.
He had pieced it together – the contraception was for Evelyn, confirming an encounter
between her and Bruce.
No more words from her could change his mind; he was only waiting for her to admit the truth about
Evelyn and Bruce.
Thalassa felt a crushing despair, her vision clouding with darkness. She took a breath, closed her eyes,
then opened them again to meet Lysander’s intense gaze, her voice
trembling.
“It was my mother who took them. I just wanted to protect her, that’s all. I’m begging you, please don’t
