Chapter 1128

Lysander’s expression darkened momentarily, a flicker of concern passing through his deep-set eyes.

He straightened up and gently pulled Thalassa to her feet, urging her to sit up properly beside him.

“Feeling any discomfort?” he inquired.

Last time, he’d been oblivious to her pregnancy and had nearly caused a miscarriage. He couldn’t

afford to make that mistake again.

Thalassa was taken aback to see Lysander anxious. She was actually being pampered because of her

condition, a rare experience for her with Lysander.

“No, I feel quite alright,” she replied.

“Hungry? What would you like to eat?” Lysander’s voice was still husky, not yet back to its usual timbre.

“Anything light would be fine,” Thalassa responded without fuss. She hadn’t eaten since getting off

work and naturally, her stomach was growling.

Times had changed; she couldn’t just ignore her hunger anymore, especially with a little one growing

inside her. Even if she wasn’t hungry, the baby would be.

“Hmm.” Lysander’s voice resonated with a magnetic syllable.

He took out his phone and dialed Fitch, “Prepare a light dinner.”

After giving the instructions, he hung up.

Thalassa looked at him with surprise. For the first time, she felt truly indulged-whatever she craved, he

would have the kitchen whip up. Just moments ago, she couldn’t stand the sight of Lysander just

because she doubted that there was an affair between him and Susan.

Now that he said himself that there was nothing between them, her mood lifted substantially and she

found him pleasing.

However, if there was no connection between him and Susan, why he did let Susan’s harsh words slide

so easily?

That was a riddle Thalassa couldn’t solve.

As she watched him, Lysander’s penetrating gaze suddenly met hers and made her heart skip a beat.

She quickly averted her eyes, sitting up straight and pretending not to have been peering at him.

“You have a question?” Lysander’s deep voice inquired.

Thalassa panicked. She could still refrain her thought if he didn’t read it; but if she still

refused to say after he had seen through her, she’d feel stuck and he’d be overthinking.

Glancing at him hesitantly, she asked, “Susan called my coach ragtag, which was clearly an insult to

you. Why weren’t you angry?”

“Do you want her to end up like Lucy, with a slap across the face?” Lysander countered.

Thalassa blinked, shaking her head dumbly.

“Won’t you feel bad for her if she got slapped?” he pressed further.

She would rather suffer herself than betray Bruce, the man who had kidnapped her, all because of the

father-daughter bond she presumed they shared.

He had obliged her wishes by sparing Bruce and her dear sister Susan.

Thalassa was stunned and confused by his question, “Why would I feel bad for her?”

The thought was ludicrous. Feel bad for Susan? She would relish seeing Susan get a slap, the more

brutal, the better.

Just yesterday, she had slapped Susan herself, and the marks were now concealed under layers of

thick foundation. If not for that, Lysander would know just how much she’d “feel bad” for her dear sister.

Lysander let his gaze drift from her face, saying no more.

The black Rolls-Royce journeyed smoothly on the asphalt road below.

Meanwhile, Susan fumed in her silver Mercedes parked at the golf course. While she was looking

outside, her eyes were venomous with rage and filled with resentment as well as frustration.

She had seen with her own eyes how Thalassa flirted with Callum at the entrance until Lysander

arrived. He whisked Thalassa away, and the two of them disappeared into the car and got all chummy

inside it.

Lysander wouldn’t even give Susan a second glance. If she tried to seduce him, he’d reject her with a

disdainful kick, a rejection so cold that it still pained her belly.
