Chapter 1157

Debby said to her, her voice thick with emotion.

Tears streamed down Thalassa’s face as she covered her mouth, her heart aching as though it were

submerged in the depths of the ocean, struggling for breath.

After Leopold was laid to rest, indeed, she hadn’t come to visit him. She didn’t have the courage,

fearing that the sight of his photograph would unleash a torrent of grief she couldn’t control.

She felt even less deserving of visiting him. The Sinclairs had forbidden her from stepping foot near

Leopold’s grave, and she hadn’t figured out how to face him.

Now, cornered by Debby and facing his tombstone, her heart felt as though it had been carved out of

her chest.

Debby recounted her own heartaches, and Thalassa could now understand her sorrow.

She had always assumed that Debby’s opposition against her stemmed from the petulance of a spoiled

heiress, intent on claiming Leopold for herself out of sheer possessiveness.

But it turned out that Debby truly loved Leopold, more deeply than Thalassa could have ever imagined.

Love as deep as the sea, as painful as its depths.

“Answer me!” Debby demanded, her breath coming in ragged gasps.

But Thalassa remained silent, choking back sobs.

Seeing Thalassa in such anguish, Debby’s emotions crumbled. Pain and rage burst forth as she

grabbed Thalassa’s collar violently. “Talk to me, damn it!”

In front of Leopold’s resting place, Thalassa refused to engage in a brawl with Debby. S knew Leopold

would never want to see them fighting. All her emotions were soaked in sadness, her body too weak to

resist Debby’s shaking.

Her tears fell like pearls slipping off a string, endlessly tumbling down.

The sight of Thalassa’s grief only fueled Debby’s pain and hatred. She held onto Thalassa’s collar with

a fierce grip, glaring at her venomously. “It should have been you who died, not him! Why are you still

here? Why didn’t you die!”

Debby’s growl was a mix of anger and loathing, all the pain of the past month channeled into her glare.

Thalassa shared Debby’s anguish. She understood why Debby hated her so.

Debby had loved Leopold so deeply, and his death had brought her unbearable pain. The

one she blamed the most was Thalassa, the cause of Leopold’s broken heart.

If it weren’t for Leopold falling for Thalassa first, Debby would have been with him long

ago.

Thalassa regretted it all. Why had she ever gotten involved with Leopold? If she hadn’t, none of the

subsequent events would have happened. He would have had his first love with Debby, might have

married her and lived happily.

But who could have predicted that a single night’s mistake would lead to a lifetime of missed

opportunities, ultimately costing Leopold his life.

Fate was beyond anyone’s control.

As Debby’s shaking became more violent, the flashlight fell to the ground. Its beam pointed upwards,

casting a ghostly light on Debby’s face, highlighting her reddened eyes, pale complexion, and

shadowed, furious gaze-she looked like a vengeful spirit.

Thalassa’s vision was blurred with tears. Seeing the terrifying visage of Debby, her sorrow was greater

than her fear. Her voice trembled as she spoke, “Leopold’s spirit in heaven would want you to find

strength, to heal, and to find a new love that’s even more beautiful…”

Thalassa didn’t want Debby to fall into the same abyss of despair as Leopold.

Only by moving past the pain could she start living a fulfilling life again.

“Bullshit!” Debby roared. “Thalassa, you heartless woman, you’re the one who should be dead!”

In a sudden fury, Debby pulled a rope from her backpack and began to tie Thalassa’s wrists tightly.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Thalassa started to struggle, pushing away Debby’s hands.

“Debby, calm down! Or I’m calling the cops!”
