"We've done that," Aurelia said with a smile, "The kids were itching to see you, so | hitched up the wagon and brought them over."
Skyler chimed in, "Arnold, you gotta stop jetting off to those dangerous places to get your shots. If you get hurt, William's gonna be
a mess."
"It was just a freak accident," Arnold said, his mind drifting to that day he had been teaching Aurelia to rock climb in the wild, how
he lost focus and slipped, bashing into the rocks below.
Aurelia softened her voice, "Every tyou head off to srisky place, William and | are worry sick. You used to be a free bird, no
ties. But now, you're a dad. You gotta think safety first."
Those words wrapped around Arnold's heart like a warm blanket. Because she cared. Because she was thinking of him.
Once, he was a lone wolf without a care. Now, there were people who cared about him, which changed everything.
"I'll hang up my adventurer's hat," he promised.

Lisa emerged from the kitchen, cradling a pot of homemade nutritious soup she had learned to brew from Aurelia.
Lisa knew Arnold had a soft spot for Aurelia's soup. By mirroring her recipe, Arnold couldn't resist.
Aurelia gave a thumbs-up, "That soup smells like heaven."
Arnold glanced at Lisa, "You've got your life, no need to play nurse here."
A hint of disappointment flickered across Lisa.
Aurelia interjected, "Arnold, even though you two split up, you can still be friends. With the holidays around the corner and Lisa's
stuclosed, why not let her and Nova stay? Nova would love to spend twith her dad. How happy she is here!"
Arnold, gazing at his daughter, let out a sigh, no further arguments offered.
His daughter was indeed a treasure.
Just yesterday, she had climbed beside his bed, blowing gently on his leg, mimicking her brother.
Aurelia nudged Lisa to serve the soup.
Mira, tugging cautiously at Aurelia's sleeve, piped up, "Auntie Aurelia, can | have ssoup too?" Her voice was a mere whisper,
but Nina heard it and her world turned upside down.
"Hey, you little foodie, aren't you being a bit much? That's Uncle Arnold's special soup."
Mira scrunched her nose, "Just a little taste?"
Nina, hands on hips, glared fiercely, "No way, that's for Uncle Arnold's recovery."
Arnold chuckled, "There's enough to feed an army. Everyone can have some."
Mira stuck out her tongue at Nina, "See, Uncle Arnold said | could."

Once Lisa served the soup, Aurelia dished out a bowl for Mira.
After a sip, Mira beamed, "Auntie Lisa, your soup is delicious just like Auntie Aurelia's. How do you both make such amazing soup?
My mom can't make soup to save her life. We always have to get it from a restaurant."
Nina retorted, "Mom can make soup, and it's the best. But since dad never comes hfor dinner, she lost the heart for it."
Mira shrugged, "Well, if dad doesn't chome, we can. Why should she only make it for him?"
"You don't get it, do you? Mom wants to make soup for dad because he's her husband. Just like Auntie Lisa makes soup for Uncle
Arnold, and Auntie Aurelia for Uncle Leopold," Nina explained.
Mira waved dismissively, "You're wrong. Auntie Aurelia makes soup for us too, and when Uncle Leopold isn't home, she still makes
it. She even made soup for Uncle Arnold once."
"Auntie Aurelia made soup for Uncle Arnold because she's his ex-wife. They were married," Nina stated recklessly.
Aurelia was speechless and embarrassed. When had she and Arnold ever been married?
Mira looked incredulously at both Aurelia and Arnold, "Were Auntie Aurelia and Uncle Arnold married? How c| never knew?"
