"Anything you can buy with money is inherently meaningless," he interjected casually.
Aurelia choked back a retort. Of course, that was easy for Leopold to say with his bank account.

"The well-off would think that," she thought to herself. "But for the average, money is more important than life itself. The more something costs, the more they cherish it. The cheaper it is, the less they care." "Cheesy ideas," Leopold declared, with his lips curling with a hint of disdain.
Beverley was taken aback. She thought that this bodyguard spoke with a tone so similar to Leopold's, even his voice matched.
Could he be the replacement for Leopold that Aurelia had chosen? Aurelia must still hold a torch for Leopold. Otherwise, she would have moved on with someone like Elvis Cooper by now, instead of remaining single.
What a pity! Leopold was such a playboy, about to marry Lana. That must've cut Aurelia deep.
"Leopold may be handsand outstanding, but he's fickle at heart, not husband material, just a fling, like Chad. You should let him be a closed chapter and find someone good to be a husband, like Arnold or even Elvis." Leopold felt an invisible arrow had struck him square in the chest.

Aurelia shot him a covert glance, knowing full well that someone was internally hemorrhaging, with his patience fraying at the edges. If it weren't for his hidden identity, he'd probably have already tossed Beverley out the window.
She picked up her cocktail glass and sipped, "Frankly, | feel the same. I'm not even considering remarriage before | hit thirty. If loneliness creeps in, I'll just find shandsguy to date." The silence was punctuated by a 'crack’, the sound of knuckles nearly crushed by the grip.
Leopold's rage had escalated to the extreme. If these two jabbed him again, he was about to explode.
Knowing when to stop, Aurelia realized Mr. Leopold was not in the best of moods. Provoking him further would only make her evening miserable.
She bit her lip, shifting her gaze to Marianne, who was sitting beside Beverley, and changed the subject.
"Have you ever had a boyfriend, Marianne?" Marianne shrugged nonchalantly, "Had a fling while | was studying in Australia, but it ended quickly. Guys overseas are just dating for physical needs, but | prefer a platonic love just like Beverley." Aurelia shrugged, "Men are the severywhere. Those who can resist temptation are rare as hen's teeth." Marianne grinned, "My idol is one of them. He's the epitof virtue and positivity." Aurelia said gravely, "Our Avery is career-driven and wouldn't date anyone, let alone do something scandalous. You can be his fan without worry. He never let you down." Leopold scoffed and thought he was the true paragon of virtue, purer than the distilled water. But Aurelia wouldn't believe it, looking at him through a prejudiced lens.
Beverley popped a piece of fruit in her mouth and asked, "How's your half-brother doing, Marianne? Did he go through with the kidney transplant?" Marianne pouted, "Not yet. His cowardly uncle absolutely refuses to donate a kidney. He's up to his neck in debt to Quentin, and now he's blacklisted by the courts. The whole lot of them hiding out in the countryside. Laverne's brothers-in-law lost their jobs and followed suit, pressuring him to donate. It's constant chaos at home, a never-ending trouble."
