Chapter 1479

"What?! It's that d*mn woman again?!'

Francine immediately became angry when she heard that. She always hated Sophia, but

the fact that Sophia was pulling some shady sh*t behind their backs again made her want

to punch her even more!

'God, why is that woman everywhere? Isn't it enough that she caused Jeremy to go

missing, and she's now back to cause more trouble for Corinne? Ugh! I should've gone to

the auction to give her a piece of my mind,' thought Francine.

She would have punched Sophia in the face to quell the anger inside of her if she had

seen her at the auction house.

At that moment, Corinne was so tired that she wished she could fall asleep forever. For

some reason, she felt more easily tired than before.

Usually, she had more energy than that. Maybe it was because she used up too much

brain power during the car ride back home to figure out what Lucas was hiding from her.

After all, his behavior was too unusual for comfort.

'Based on his reaction, his talk with the person in charge must not have gone well. If not,

he wouldn't look so grim. But then again, surely the auction house wouldn't dare to cross

someone with his status and power... So what else could it be to make him act so weird?’

wondered Corinne.

Seeing Corinne lost in thought with a frown, Francine put down Christine and told the girl

to go play by herself before sitting next to Corinne.

"Chill, Corinne. It's not like we must have that piece of land. There's plenty more land in

the city that's way better than Sophia's land. We can even buy up the whole city if we

want!" said Francine.

Corinne simply smiled at how naive Francine could be sometimes.

"I'm bound to get that piece of land. Plus, it's not up to US to decide now since the auction

house has the final say. They can take US to court if we don't pay up."

Francine frowned. "Ugh! I can't help but feel sick to the stomach at the thought of Sophia

getting away with ripping US off. It's not like we don't have the money to pay her, but I

just don't want her to get richer from this! God, I hate her so much."

"Don't worry. I'm not going to let her get away with it. I'm not that easy to deal with too,

you know."

Francine had faith in Corinne's ability, so she nodded and said, "I know you have a way to

handle this, so cheer up! Let's go eat the barbecue ribs Grandma cooked for US."

Corinne waved her hand. “I'm not hungry yet, but please make sure the kids eat

something. They ate nothing but junk food today."

"Sure thing! Leave it to me."

Francine got up and was about to lead the kids to the dining room when she saw 'Bryan'

squatting on the floor alone and drawing circles.

'He's certainly not been acting himself these two days,' she thought with a frown. As

naughty as Bryan was in the past, he was also a cheerful kid.

However, ever since he was scolded by Corinne for running off yesterday, he had become

closed-off. He would often zone out or keep to himself.

Francine bent down and whispered to Corinne, "Hey, did you notice Bryan has been acting

weirdly these two days? Maybe you went overboard with the scolding and he's now

depressed?"

Corinne did not know whether to laugh or cry at what Francine said.

'When did I scold Bryan? Though, Francine is right. He's been acting very weird these two

days by running off again and again,' she thought.

She sat up and observed 'Bryan' quietly with a frown. 'Not only that, but he looks like his

mind is always somewhere else. Then there's the fact that he doesn't know how to use his

utensils properly...and how he keeps getting lost in the house, as if he's not familiar with

where everything is.' 1

The more Francine observed 'Bryan', the more worried she became.

"Corinne, do you think he's traumatized by what happened yesterday?

Should we bring him to see a therapist? I heard kids these days are easily traumatized."

Corinne frowned. She was reluctant to think that her kids would be so easily traumatized.

She threw away the cushion she was holding, got up from the sofa, and walked over to

'Bryan'.

"Bryan, what are you doing?" asked Corinne.

'Bryan' looked up and said seriously, "Mommy, I..."
