“Mr. Hoffman!”

From somewhere above Ryan, Yasmin’s heart-wrenching cry reached his ears. Ryan's trembling eyelids lifted abruptly, and his

stormy eyes narrowed again.

On the ten-meter diving platform over the swimming pool, Yasmin’s hands were tightly bound with coarse hemp rope, and Lewis

held a gun to her head, forcing her to stand precariously at the edge of the platform.

Below her feet was a terrifying height, and the swimming pool below waspletely dry.

“Yasmin!”

Ryan's bloodstained white shirt was soaked in cold sweat. As he took two steps forward, Lewis immediately pointed the gun at him,

forcing him to retreat!

“Mr. Hoffman, I'm sorry...” Tears filled Yasmin’s eyes, choking her words.

Ryan gazed deeply at her without blinking. “No, you have never wrongedor anyone else. Yasmin. The one who should

apologize is me.”

Yasmin’s heart was pierced sharply. She had apanied Ryan through storms, fearing nothing, but she dreaded Ryan apologizing

to her.

“Where is Carrie?” Ryan's voice was chilling.

Liam leisurely picked up a remote control from the table and pressed a button.

A loud rumbling sound cfrom the pitch-dark area on the left. Ryan turned his eyes warily and saw a cart carrying a large glass

tank slowly moving toward him. With a clunk, the cart’s four wheels retracted, and the intricately crafted tank settled into its

designated position.

Through the transparent glass, Carrie was suspended inside, unconscious, and her wrists were shackled. Her pure white dress was

covered with dirt and blood, like a broken doll, cruelly displayed in a showcase after being ravaged.

“Young Madam!” Yasmin's tears gushed out instantly.

“Carrie!”

Ryan roared with red eyes, the taut string in his mind almost snapping.

He ran toward it, pounding his clenched fists against the thick glass, kicking it, and slamming it with his elbows. But the glass was

so sturdy that it did not crack even in the slightest. The girl inside remained motionless with her eyes closed.

“Stop yelling. The glass has excellent soundproofing. She can’t hear anything.”

Liam weighed the remote control in his hand. “Your wife is just unconscious. After enduring so many beatings and suffering so

much, how could she wake up so soon? Don’t you know how to care for someone?”

“Ryan, you should actually be thanking me. Without me, would you have known what good deeds your sister did behind your back?

Would you have known that your wife has been bullied and abused by her since middle school? You surely didn’t know that Jason

wanted to marry this girl under Zoe's orders, did you? That guy has tried to molest her since they were kids. Carrie's worsening

mental illness over the years is all thanks to them.

“The sister you pampered for years is the very culprit who ruined your beloved. Hahaha... Ryan, now you must be filled with regret,

right? Don’t you feel that your so-called love is ridiculous? Do you hate yourself to death?”

The overwhelming pain nearly crushed Ryan on the spot. In an instant, all the suspicious fragments in his mind connected.

He understood why Carrie always shrank in fear when she saw Zoe, why Carrie stayed hfor so long, afraid to go to school, and

why Carrie mumbled iprehensible words during her nightmares.

Ryan prided himself on being the one who loved Carrie the most. Yet, it seemed he had never entered her scarred soul. He had

never truly rescued her from that nightmare.

A tear filled with guilt silently rolled down Ryan's eye as he tried to control his nearly unmanageable emotions. He still had to

negotiate with the devil in front of him.

“Liam, you just want revenge on me, to settle this once and for all. Release Carrie and Yasmin, and you can do whatever you want

with me!”

Liam laughed harshly. “Ryan, your life is not as valuable as you think. | am also a businessman and will not make a losing deal.”

“You have to choose one. Your life can only save one of theirs.”

“Who will go, who will stay, who will live, and who will die? You choose.”
