Chapter 2529 Ethics

Jared followed Ali and the others into Vibrant Health Clinic. The place was bustling with people seeking

treatment. A man who seemed to be in his early thirties was sitting behind a table, calmly taking

people's pulses with his eyes slightly closed.

“Jared, that person is Dr. Brutus Weiss,” Percy whispered to Jared.

Jared gazed at Brutus in astonishment. He didn't expect the latter to be so young, only a few years

older than himself.

Still, he thought Brutus' skills might not be that impressive since he was just a revered doctor in such a

rural location.

Ali and the others waited in line. Soon, the people in front of them left, and Emily quickly approached

Brutus. “Dr. Weiss, I wish to hire you to treat my grandma's eyes. I have the money now.”

Brutus opened his eyes. Judging by how nonchalantly he reacted upon seeing Emily, it appeared that

wasn't his first encounter with her.

“As long as you have money, I can even resurrect your grandma from death, let alone treat her eyes.

Where's the money?” Brutus asked Emily.

“Here.” She hastily placed the fifty spirit coins she got from selling the Demon Wolf carcasses before

Brutus.

However, when he saw the spirit coins, he shook his head and said, “That's not enough.”

“Dr. Weiss, there are fifty spirit coins here. You previously told me fifty spirit coins would suffice.” Emily

was astounded.

“That was the price a year ago. The treatment will cost at least a hundred spirit coins now!” Brutus

elaborated.

Emily was stunned after hearing that. Others gave up their shares to let me have these fifty spirit coins,

yet the price has suddenly risen to a hundred spirit coins? How should I gather that amount of money?

“Dr. Weiss, you can't break your word. You clearly said before that fifty spirit coins would be enough!”

Ali expressed his discontent.

“That was before. It's a hundred spirit coins now. If you don't have the money, hurry up and leave. Don't

interfere with my business!” Brutus' countenance began to darken.

“Dr. Weiss, I beg you. Please treat my grandma's eyes!” Emily knelt before Brutus as she spoke.

She knew if Brutus didn't agree to help her that time, she would have to take a long time to save up a

hundred spirit coins.

However, Brutus was unfazed even at the sight of Emily groveling at his feet. Her behavior didn't rouse

the slightest hint of pity within him. Perhaps it was because he had seen too many people begging him

in that manner.

“Emily, get up. This kind of unethical alchemist can't be that skilled. I think he's just a blowhard!” Jared

stepped forward to help Emily up while shooting Brutus a disdainful look.

Hearing that audacious remark, Brutus instantly widened his eyes and glared at Jared. “Brat, are you

deliberately looking for trouble here? If you have a death wish, I won't let you leave Quakersville alive.”

“Dr. Weiss, please calm down. My friend was just talking nonsense. Since you've raised the treatment

fee, we'll go and gather more money,” Ali swiftly chimed in when he noticed Brutus getting enraged, as

he was well aware of the latter's influence in Quakersville.

A single command from Brutus could bar them from leaving Quakersville alive.

“Scram!” Brutus waved his hand.

Ali cast a look at Jared, hinting at the latter to keep his mouth shut and follow him out of the clinic.

However, Emily was reluctant to go. She wanted to beg Brutus but was forcefully dragged away by Ali.

Everyone knew Brutus was an avaricious man, so there was no way he could ever sympathize with

Emily.

Shortly after Jared and the others left, a man emerged from a room behind Brutus. That man was in his

forties and dressed in combat gear.

Brutus quickly got to his feet when he saw that man. “Francois, why are you here?”
