Kai kept talking. “Yvonne almost hurt you last time. Zach was only trying to help you out. | made it in time, though, and everyone's fine.

Zach came out of the bathroom and noticed the bed was empty. With a puzzled frown, he stepped into the art studio. His eyes landed on Madelyn standing by the window, and he paused.
Madelyn turned and saw Zach silently standing behind her. She just walked past him, not uttering a word.
Zach frowned at her silence. “Is there really nothing you want to ask me?” Looking at him with steady eyes, Madelyn replied, “You never tell me the truth anyway. I'm really tired. Let's just call it a night.” Back in her room, Madelyn noticed the maid coming in with a bow! of oatmeal.
Zach took over, spoon-feeding her until it was all gone. As sleepiness washed over Madelyn, Zach-placed the bowl on the nightstand. He was about to leave when she suddenly grabbed his sleeve. “Stay, please.” Her voice was faint but Zach heard every word.
‘Zach, you have to stop hurting others.” Zach watched her as she slept, murmuring in her dreams. His eyes showed a hint of emotion. In the stillness of the room, he finally whispered, “I will.”
