Chapter 30 Wilma grasped Nancy's cold fingertips, her voice firm and slightly teasing, "Give it a few more years, and I'll pass all my shares to my lovely daughter-in-law. That'll make Nancy the new CEO. If you've got any sense, you'll know who's calling the shots here!" Just a trinket was not worth the daylight. Wilma couldn't be bothered to meddle in such trivialities unless it was over the line.
Nancy's gaze faltered, looking at Wilma, not joking, and her eyes dropped in resignation.
It would be a pity that she wouldn't be 'CEO' of the Gordon Group anymore. In a few days, she could leave all this behind. And she would never have to see Cyrus again! Perhaps Wilma, as a mother-in-law, liked her, but she favored Cyrus more. Otherwise, she would have advised her to divorce Cyrus instead of pushing them together and suggesting they have a child.

Just as she was about to retort, Cyrus' deep voice interrupted, "Mom has spoken. Let's follow her advice. Hayley, you should go rest, and let Norton take good care of you." Hayley's expression shifted again, involuntarily glancing at Cyrus, "Bu-" "This is an order, not a negotiation," Cyrus cut in sharply, his tone as hard as addressing a subordinate. Hayley fell silent. She wasn't foolish. Continuing to resist would only annoy Cyrus.
With that realization, Hayley meekly said, "If Mr. Gordon insists, I'll comply." Without another word, she turned and walked out. The door slammed shut behind her.
Cyrus approached Nancy, his eyes filled with affection, "Nancy, I'm clean. Con. Givea sniff!" Evading his advance, Nancy quipped, "Go dry your hair, or don't blme for your headache later." "So, Nancy, you're still mad, but even when you're mad, you're worried about me," Cyrus chuckled. "You're the best to me, Nancy. I've been busy with work at the office till now. I'm exhausted. Helpdry my hair, will you?" Standing beside Wilma, Nancy didn't answer, her eyes laced with sarcasm.
'Was it office work that kept him till now, or was it Hayley?' Nancy sneered.
Wilma coughed lightly, "Aren't you busy this morning?" "I am. The folks from Orion Solutions have a contract signing at ten and a dinner meeting at six. I won't be back until midnight," Cyrus said, his words intended more for Nancy's ears.
Nancy's eyes momentarily revealed a mocking glint. 'A dinner that takes six hours? He could've thought of a better excuse if he wanted to see Hayley.' "Then take Nancy with you to dinner tonight. Such a beautiful wife should be shown off," Wilma decisively said. Caught off guard by Wilma's suggestion, Nancy blurted, "Wilma, I'm afraid I might say something wrong and upset the business partners." Irked by Nancy's eagerness to refuse, Cyrus retorted, "What could you say that's wrong? Nancy, you're my wife. And you're joiningtonight!" Nancy attempted to protest, but Wilma stopped her. "Go on, Nancy. You used to enjoy accompanying Cyrus." Faced with Wilma and Cyrus' firm stance, Nancy sighed in resignation, "Fine, I understand."
After all, she was leaving soon. A little more patience, avoiding further trouble, was all she needed. Caleb glanced at the time. "Mr. Gordon, we should head out. The Orion Solutions team must be waiting." Cyrus gave a slight nod, his gaze softening as he looked at Nancy again. "Why don't you and Mom take a stroll around the office or check out snearby shops? Don't worry about the expenses; it's on my account." "Sure, you go ahead," Nancy urged.
With that, Cyrus stood up and left with Caleb.
