Chapter 680 What Does He Take Me For?

"I heard that Alec merged his company with Paul's. What if he takes over the Fausts?

Won't he be on Paul's side after he achieves that?" Stephanie expressed her concerns.

If it were just Paul himself, Stephanie wouldn't be too worried. No matter what, Paul was

not a match for Jenny now. But he had friends-friends who were powerful and shouldn't be

underestimated.

She knew a little about the situation between Alec and Jenny. Since the two of them were

completely unrelated now, Alec would definitely not lend her a hand.

Stephanie's words weighed on Jenny, and she said nothing for some time. Finally, she

spoke up, "Don't worry. Even if Alec helps him, we won't necessarily lose. Although the

Fausts are currently the leading family among the Ten Elites, it doesn't mean it'll always

stay that way."

Besides, Jenny could seek help from others. She could turn to other families like the

Windsors. As long as she proposed an offer that was attractive enough, no one would

refuse.

Stephanie nodded, but her worries did not decrease much. She understood that if it really

came to that kind of situation, Jenny would do everything to help her. But did she want to

let her friend do everything for her?

As they were talking, a figure appeared before them.

"Miss Walter, it's been a while," Brandon greeted with a smile.

Jenny was surprised to see him. She thought Brandon wouldn't attend the banquet. After

all, he was the joke of the entire Bardoff City now. Although the Walters paid a heavy price

to quell their anger, the Britts still suffered a huge loss.

With a nod, Jenny acknowledged his presence. "Mr. Britt, you're quite bold to still show up

here today."

"All things considered, today was originally my engagement ceremony with Jolene. Of

course, I had to come and take a look," he replied without a hint of sadness or anger on

his face.

Upon hearing his words, Jenny felt curious. She stared at him briefly before asking, "You

don't seem very sad. I thought you loved Jolene."

If he didn't love her, he wouldn't have agreed to her conditions so easily back then.

"Love isn't important forthose in our position." Brandon laughed, appearing carefree.

Jenny was confused and couldn't understand Brandon's attitude toward the situation. But

one thing she was sure of was that Brandon probably didn't like Jolene much. There might

have been other reasons which led him to agree to marry her. Jenny thought it was most

likely because Jolene was a Walter, and on top of that, her mother was from the Glass

family.

"Wise words, Mr. Britt." Jenny didn't plan to continue talking to him, as they were only

acquaintances at best. After exchanging a few casual pleasantries, they were almost done

with the conversation.

However, Brandon didn't intend to leave Jenny alone. He walked over and sat next to her.

"Miss Walter, we've already met several times. Why don't we be friends?"

Jenny raised her eyebrows as her gaze landed squarely on Brandon. "Mr. Britt, stop

beating around the bush. Don't take me for a fool."

Friends? Brandon wasn't short of friends.

"You're a straightforward one, Miss Walter." Brandon wasn't ashamed that Jenny called his

bluff. On the contrary, he admitted unflinchingly, "I think

you're nice, so I would like for you to give me a chance."

Jenny and Stephanie were both rendered speechless. They struggled to comprehend how

Brandon was audacious enough to suggest such a thing.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Britt, but I'm not interested in you." Jenny rejected him politely, even

though she felt quite speechless deep inside.

Did Brandon think since he couldn't marry Jolene, he could turn to her instead? What did

he take her for? It was funny how naive he was.
