Caroline made her way back upstairs to Evan’s room after finishing her breakfast.

Just as she was about to enter, Daniella opened the door and approached her. Her eyes darted. toward

Caroline’s belly as she commented, “You’re nearly four months along, aren’t you?”

Caroline regarded her with a guarded expression. “What are you trying to insinuate?”

Daniella put on a gentle smile. “1,wonder if you haven’t told him because you’re afraid he might ask

you to get an abortion or if you’ve been hiding something from him. Say, for example, being pregnant

Caroline scoffed. “Do you think everyone is like you?”

Daniella’s face froze for a moment. “Then why haven’t you told him about me?”

“What’s the point of telling him now? Caroline took a step closer, her voice laced with a sense of

vindictiveness. “I simply enjoy reminding you from time to time. I want you to live in pain, to see you

filled with worry, fear, and anger. It brings me happiness, Daniella, you better pray that the

child inside you is Evan’s. Otherwise, even I can’t predict the consequences.”

Without waiting for a response, Caroline turned away and returned to Evan’s room.

Daniella stared at the closed door with intense fury. Soon enough, Caroline wouldn’t be reveling in

her misery anymore!

She then proceeded to Evan’s study and entered the room. Inside, she spotted a safe with three

locks. Furrowing her brows, she recalled Nic mentioning that some safes were custom–made and

She bit her lip in contemplation. There was no safe in Evan’s office. Perhaps she should carry out

her plan in the office.

She casually grabbed a book and walked out. Back in her room, she sent a message to the young

secretary.

“Try to get Caroline to come to the office.”

The young secretary promptly contacted Caroline upon receiving the message.

Caroline who was in the middle of reading the news, responded after reading the message.

She informed Lily and changed her clothes before leaving the house. Daniella followed suit and they

both hailed a taxi to the MK office, Caroline first, then Daniella closely behind.

Upon arriving, Caroline spoke to the front desk and made her way upstairs. The familiar

surroundings of the office building brought back a wave of nostalgia.

She took a deep breath and headed towards the president’s office. Since she was here, it was only

appropriate to greet Evan.

Just as she approached the office, she heard a scoff from behind her.

“Hah, I knew it had to be you, Caroline. You’ve already resigned, so why are you back?”

Caroline turned around upon hearing the voice. She faced her former colleague, Ms. Walker.

“How have you been, Ms. Walker?‘ Caroline greeted her with a smile, taking a good look at her.

“Ms. Walker, you’re more experienced than me no matter what. Now that I’m gone, why aren’t you

sitting on the leader’s throne?

“Caroline, you may have left, but you have no right to gloat over me! Does Mr. Jordan even know

you’re here? I can have security escort you out for trespassing MKI Ms. Walker retorted, her face

Inside the office, Caroline’s gaze swept across the empty secretary’s desk at the side. Then, she

looked at Evan and said, “I just wanted to say hello before going to assist the young secretary.”

Evan closed the documents on his desk, glanced at her, and stood up. “Okay. I’ll be at the project

site.”

He walked past her toward the door but turned around before leaving. I’ll take you out to dinner

later.”
