Chapter 969 A Sudden Call
Linda gritted her teeth. "I pray that day comes. When will it end? Why won't Elisa die?" She groaned,
"Elisa just watches us without making a move."
Rose reassured with darkened eyes, "She will."
Linda had made the people at the table lose their appetites.
Norman sat his utensils down and looked at the delicious food on the table. "Let's eat. We must keep
our strength up to devise a good plan to deal with her. If we starve ourselves, we won't have a chance
to fight against Elisa," said Norman.
Rose nodded and looked at Linda. She handed Linda her utensils and said, "Would you do the
honors?"
Linda bit her lip and silently took the spoon.

The family was disturbed by a phone call. The unexpected call further dampened their appetites.
It was Norman's phone. The entire family made a bitter expression.
They all disliked phone calls for multiple reasons.
However, Norman still chose to answer it as it was his assistant on the line. He put the phone on
speaker.
"Boss, I finally got through to you!"
His competent assistant continued to address Norman as 'boss' in private.
As Norman heard him speaking anxiously, he sensed something was amiss. He questioned with
intensity, "What's going on?"
The assistant choked, "Well…you…"
He stumbled and seemed unsure of what to say. The Benetts appeared resentful. Once more, Linda
set her spoon down, and Rose was no longer even remotely hungry.
It's late, yet things are turning for the worst. When will it end?
Norman exclaimed with impatience, "What's going on? Speak up!"
Internally, Norman was afraid. He was terrified that Elisa had stirred trouble for them.
The assistant finally explained in a panicked tone, "I couldn't reach you on your phone. The court called
me as you've been given a subpoena..."
Norman's expression darkened.
Both Rose and Linda turned a shade paler.
A court summon? Who else could have done it?
Norman questioned, though, still holding out some hope. "Who gave the subpoena?"

Norman took a deep breath and closed his eyes. "I see. Please send me the details through chat,"
The assistant replied, "Okay..."
Norman hung up the phone.
The family became quiet and had uncomfortable expressions on their face. They were equally irritated
and terrified of their current situation.
Linda lamented, "Why? Wasn't the contract fine? Where did Elisa get the nerve to do this?"
"Is she attempting to break our spirit first? After all, the legal system is a drawn-out, tedious procedure.
This might be her last act," said Rose. She had a look of doubt on her face.
Linda furrowed her brows and bit her lower lip. "We should not worry at all if that is the case. Yet, why
do I feel as though something is off? Has she truly thought of a fallback?"
Rose also furrowed her brow and said, "It doesn't seem like it. After all, several top attorneys have
reviewed the contract, and there haven't been any problems. What kind of issue could there be?"
